Embedded World 2024 Features the DART-MX95 Release – NXP i.MX 95 SoM for High-end Edge Computing.

We have revealed the lineup of Variscite products that will be featured at Embedded World Exhibition & Conference 2024, held this April 9-11 in Nuremberg, Germany.

Embedded World will mark the global launch of Variscite’s new DART-MX95 and the first public display of the SoM demo. This platform for sophisticated edge devices is based on the NXP i.MX 95 application processor, and is ideal for high-end devices including medical, industrial automation, robotics, smart city/factory, test and measurement, security, HMI and vision-integrated applications.

Nearly every year, Variscite releases and demonstrates the industry’s most advanced SoM solutions at Embedded World, and 2024 is no exception. Being a Platinum-level NXP partner, we are proud to be able to access NXP’s state-of-the-art processors ahead of public launch, like the iMX95 SoC, which permits us to release our SoM in parallel with NXP’s launch. This means our customers can be first to develop their devices with the newest and best technologies on the market.

Variscite’s DART-MX95 has multiple heterogeneous processors that include 6 cores 2.0GHz Arm Cortex®-A55 plus two independent real-time co-processors, to fuel high performance, drive AI/ML applications, deliver impressive 2D/3D graphics and 4K multimedia. It also includes advanced security and safety features, an energy-flex architecture to conserve power, and abundant connectivity options to enable high-speed communications.

“Variscite is proud to consistently release new System on Module solutions year after year at the embedded industry’s most important annual event. This year Variscite will showcase the new DART-MX95 and demonstrate its powerful capabilities at NXP’s booth,” said Ofer Austerlitz, VP Business Development and Sales of Variscite. “As a Platinum-level NXP partner we are privileged to have early access to their state-of-the-art processors and to launch the DART-MX95 in parallel with their i.MX 95 SoC, so our customers can start developing advanced embedded devices with the latest technology on the market.”

“The NXP i.MX 95 family is our next generation of edge computing for the industrial IoT platforms that need powerful applications performance, AI/ML acceleration, embedded security, and new safety features,” stated Robert Thompson, Director, Secure Connected Edge ecosystem, NXP. “As one of our leading platinum partners, Variscite is a key element for the success of NXP’s i.MX 95 applications processor reaching customers. The DART-MX95 delivers the key features in a module that enable customers to accelerate development and reduce time to market, backed by the quality and features NXP instills.”

In addition to the DART-MX95, Variscite has outlined its plans for the upcoming months, which involve introducing additional System on Modules based on NXP’s application processors. The release of VAR-SOM-MX91 and DART-MX91, both utilizing the NXP i.MX 91 processor. These modules are set to launch alongside NXP later this year, catering to cost-optimized devices and applications. These SoMs boast rugged features such as industrial-grade temperature tolerance, an energy-flex architecture, built-in security options, and Variscite’s established reliability.

Another addition to the lineup is the DART-MX93, leveraging the iMX93 processor. Building on the success of the VAR-SOM-MX93 launched in 2023, this module offers similar specifications in a form factor compatible with Variscite’s VAR-SOM product family. These platforms feature integrated AI/ML Neural Processing Unit accelerators, competitive pricing, energy-flex architecture, built-in security, and industrial-grade characteristics.

The forthcoming modules are designed to be pin-compatible with Variscite’s existing VAR-SOM/ DART Pin2Pin product families, ensuring seamless scalability while maintaining consistent carrier board designs. Leveraging Pin2Pin SoMs extends product lifespan while reducing development time, costs, and risks.

Embedded World Exhibition & Conference serves as a global platform for the embedded computing community, bringing together leading experts, key players, and industry associations. The event features hundreds of exhibitors and offers programs, panels, and educational opportunities covering various aspects of embedded technologies. With a focus on components, modules, operating systems, hardware and software design, M2M communication, and services, Embedded World addresses issues related to complex system design. The previous event attracted over 25,000 developers, system architects, product managers, and technical management personnel.
