Ofer Austerlitz, Variscite’s VP Business Development and Sales:
“Here in Embedded World 2024 in Nürnberg, Germany. Robert, can you take us a bit for a short walk through the features of the iMX95 processor and a bit about the target market and segments of this processor?”

Robert Thompson, NXP’s Director Edge Processing Ecosystems:
“Yeah, sure. The iMX95 is based on up to 6x 2.0GHz Arm Cortex-A55 + 800MHz Arm Cortex-M7 + 250MHz Arm Cortex-M33. It also has a dedicated security enclave that allows for root of trust and key management. It also has a completely new redesigned machine learning pipeline from our own developed NPU, Neural Processing Unit and ISP, combined with cutting-edge graphics, the Mali, our ArmMali GPU, and high-speed interfaces such as 10 gigabit Ethernet and PCI 3.0 and USB 3.0..”

Ofer Austerlitz, Variscite’s VP Business Development and Sales:
“Yeah, amazing. We are running live, as you can see here, with our platform, DART-MX95 with your processor, practically launching our platform together with NXP iMX95 processor. This was achievable due to the early access partnership that we have with NXP for a while now. How do you see the advantages, practically of this kind of partnership between Variscite and NXP?”

Robert Thompson, NXP’s Director Edge Processing Ecosystems:
“Well, because the mass market is a critical market for NXP, the partnership with Variscite is critical for our joint success. As a semiconductor company, we can’t directly touch thousands of customers. We rely on companies like Variscite to enable us to achieve that. And bringing you in early in the process, this part will not launch till 2025, but you have a fully functioning device now in April of ’24. We do that so that you can start engaging with your customer base. And by the time we launch, we can point to Variscite as having a product which is ready to take to market.”

Ofer Austerlitz, Variscite’s VP Business Development and Sales:
“It’s amazing to see that everything is now up and running with the GPU, with the NPU, with all the interfaces, very optimized system without any active or even passive cooling.
How do you see the the future of the Variscite – NXP partnership?”

Robert Thompson, NXP’s Director Edge Processing Ecosystems:
“I’m growing exponentially. If we go back, we started talking about the ’95 and the feature set. Our products, and in general in the semiconductor market, our products are only getting more complex to meet customer demands. To really, you fully utilize all those features, we need partners such as yourself that can create boards and software stacks that then customers can quickly utilize and integrate into final products. So we can’t do it by ourselves. We need an active and vibrant ecosystem, and Variscite is a prime example of the partner we want to work with so we can join the reach our goal, potential and goals in this market.
