Variscite has announced a collaboration with TARA Systems to integrate Embedded Wizard, an award-winning graphical user interface (GUI) solution, into Variscite SOMs. This collaboration brings TARA Systems’ award-winning GUI development framework, Embedded Wizard, to Variscite’s SoMs. The integration aims to simplify the development process, lower costs, and maximize hardware efficiency.

Embedded Wizard is renowned for its speed and intuitive interface, empowering developers to design sophisticated and high-performance graphical user interfaces (GUIs). When paired with Variscite’s SoMs, developers can create responsive, visually rich UIs that take full advantage of the hardware’s capabilities. Currently, Embedded Wizard is integrated with Variscite’s i.MX 8M Plus and iMX93 modules, with more to come.

In industries like IoT, healthcare, and industrial automation, seamless UIs with minimal lag and optimal memory usage are essential. Hardware-software compatibility can often pose a challenge, but with this integration, developers can focus on innovation. Embedded Wizard enhances system performance by reducing memory usage and enables UI deployment on bare metal systems, minimizing overhead. Its cross-platform flexibility allows developers to create GUIs for multiple platforms with minimal rework, speeding up product development and reducing costs.

“Whether it’s industrial controls, consumer gadgets, or advanced medical devices, using Embedded Wizard with Variscite SoMs enables new possibilities in tailoring the GUI to the user’s needs and creating high-quality HMIs more easily than ever,” says Manuel Melic, Embedded Wizard’s Product Manager and Managing Director at TARA Systems. “This is an important partnership for industries where both performance and aesthetics are vital.”

Embedded Wizard brings a range of powerful features, including:

  • Full suite of GUI elements such as widgets, animations, effects and complex text shaping, in addition to advanced features like themes, multi-variant GUIs and localization
  • User-friendly, powerful and modern WYSIWYG editor
  • Rapid prototyping, testing and debugging to reduce development effort and time
  • Flexibility to meet varying functional, workflow, hardware and project requirements
  • Highly efficient source-code generation tailored to the specific target system to ensure applications perform smoothly even on limited hardware
  • Comprehensive support services to assist from trainings up to complete GUI implementation/development
