Lumus DK-40 Glasses

Lumus DK-40 Glasses

As the wearable computing industry continues to push technological boundaries, compact designs bring higher performance with reduced power consumption. The latest Lumus DK-40 design proves no exception thanks to Variscite’s customized electronics based on the company’s miniature-sized DART-4460 System-on-Module. The SoM’s exceptional dimensions of about 1.5 x 5 cm are perfectly suited to the glasses’ small form factor.

Variscite covered every aspect of the electronic board design, including the development and production of a dedicated carrier board tailored to the application’s tiny size and reduced power consumption. In addition to the hardware related aspects of the project, Variscite handled the software BSP development and integration of the peripherals’ drivers to support the product’s unique feature-set. This covered CMOS camera, LCOS projector, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n + Bluetooth BLE including embedded antenna, LiPO rechargeable battery and multi-axis IMU.

Main design features include:

  • OMAP4460 dual core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A9, with built-in 2D/3D PowerVR SGX540 graphics accelerator
  • LCOS projector
  • CMOS camera
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n
  • Bluetooth BLE
