Improved Bluetooth with V4.2 and a New Variant with Enhanced 802.11ac/a/b/g/n Certified Dual-Band Wi-Fi Module 

We are pleased to announce two significant upgrades to our popular VAR-SOM-MX7 System on Module product line: First, the upgrade from Bluetooth 4.1 to 4.2. Second, the launch of the VAR-SOM-MX7-5G variant with an improved Certified Wi Fi module.
The upgrade to Bluetooth/BLE 4.2 applies to the entire VAR-SOM-MX7 product-line and brings significant improvements in terms of higher speed and security. This innovated technology has a direct and significant impact on IoT devices, especially those with a critical requirement for privacy.

The VAR-SOM-MX7-5G variant is enhanced with the newest generation of Wi-Fi standard, supporting 802.11ac/a/b/g/n and dual-band 2.4/5 GHz. The variant is fully certified, provides effective bit-rate and improved performance, an ideal platform for devices requiring simultaneous connections or high data transfer rates over the wireless network. 

The new variant will run in parallel with the highly successful Initial VAR-SOM-MX7 variant, based on NXP 1 GHz dual-core i.MX7 Cortex-A7 processor. All within a very competitive price point - starting from only 35 USD.

The VAR-SOM-MX7-5G is pin-to-pin compatible with the VAR-SOM-MX7 variant. Sharing the same feature-set and connectivity range, including real-time ARM Cortex-M4 200MHz co-processor, support industrial temperature grade and carrying a longevity commitment until 2025.

Our software suit for the VAR-SOM-MX7 and VAR-SOM-MX7-5G  is fully production-ready and based on the latest leading platforms including Linux Yocto, Debian, and FreeRTOS. All ensuring an end-to-end advanced solution that will shorten development time and reduce resources requirements.
